Kai took a hip-hop class this summer with his buddies from school. He wasn't too sure if he wanted to take it, but after he took his first class he was hooked. He went home immediately and practiced all of his moves.
I added this one since Joshua wasn't in the first one. These 4 boys have been friends pretty much since birth. They are best buds and Kai is so blessed to have them in his life. From left to right - Kai, Josiah, Lucas and Joshua.

Photo of Dad
I need to update with summer photos but I found this cute picture of the boys with my dad today and thought it appropriate to post since he passed away on August 13th. It was a long battle with cancer, 12 years. My mom, brother and I decided to donate all of the financial gifts we received to the Melanoma Research Center in memory of his name. This organization gives out grants for melanoma treatment reasearch and of course hopes to fund research that will ultimately finding a cure. Just got back from Seattle last night and had quite an exhausting past 14 days. Glad to be home. Don't you love Kai's hair.

New Puppy
We just picked up our new puppy yesterday. The boy's named him Martian (Marsh for short). He's about 8 weeks old and is a mix of Poodle/Papillon and Bichon Frise. He is so cute and we are having so much fun with him. Marsh & Mello are getting along great, although Mello can't wait until he can play more.

Busy Spring
I haven't posted in a while. We have had a very busy spring. Easter, Soccer, Dance Shows, Band Performances, Talent Shows... we even fit in a trip to San Francisco. Here are some photos of our spring.
Easter
We have been doing an Easter Egg Hunt with the Perry Family for about 8 years now. This year Michaela and Cole prepared the hunt for Kai, Gemma and Cousin Carson.

Soccer Soccer Soccer
Three kids, three different soccer teams and three games every Saturday. Thank goodness the season is over. They all had fun, well except Cole. He chose to play on a different team this season and was missing his friends. He will be trying out for his old team again for the fall. Here is a video of Gemma's first experience at playing soccer. In the clip she is playing with two of her best buddies Ula and Lilly. You will notice the three side line coaches commenting on play.Thursday, March 12, 2009
School Band Performance
Cole's favorite subject in school is Band. He is getting an A+. He has actually been talking about going to music school when he graduates from high school. He says he wants to go to music school and also be an author/publisher. I guess in a few years we will see what he does.
This year he decided to start in beginning band in the percussion section. He was invited to try out for concert band but decided that instead of two band classes he needed to get extra help in math. He plans to try out for next years jazz band this spring. He is going to start back at his drum lessons in April so he can learn how to play jazz drums. Cole's teacher Jennifer is outstanding and is known for her amazing band program. She has a successful program and makes band class really fun for the kids. They sound really good for 1st year band students.
The first video is sort of long but Cole had a few solo sections he had to try out for. The second one shows him playing the bells. In band class he has learned to play multiple percussion instruments. At home he practices his bell music on the keyboard, this has taught him how to play the piano.
